Submissions to 2012 Red Clay Survey. These archival 16"x20" FB prints were matted with museum rag mat and mounted in 28"x32" frames. When I dropped them off at the Huntsville Museum of Art for judging, the guy who received them them told me that they would all likely be accepted. As it turned out, none were accepted. From the looks of those that were accepted, I suspect small town cronyism played a role in the process. That was the last Red Clay Survey I submitted work to.

I took these photos when I was in the US Navy stationed at Treasure Island for electronics "A" school. At the time I was stationed there, there was no darkroom on T.I. so I would take a 45 minute bus ride (actually multiple buses) to Presideo Army Base where they had a very nice darkroom.

These are digital pictures I took during my 2011 trip to San Francisco. In a fit of nostalgia, we went to Treasure Island and walked around the base. Although there was residential housing at one end of the island, the majority of the naval school buildings were still there. It was sad, because the barracks (I lived in Cosson Hall) were new when I was there in the early 70s, but in 2011 they were boarded up and the inside was completely wrecked and covered with graffiti. Follow this link to see what they looked like in the 2010s: https://www.abandonedspaces.com/public/treasure-island.html
